Registered Nurses in Louisiana 2012 Snapshot

In 2012, more than 59,000 nurses held licenses to practice as registered nurses in Louisiana. Nurses comprise the largest segment of Louisiana’s health care workforce. They deliver the most patient care and are trained in the coordination of care across the health continuum. To help predict the demand for nurses to meet growing healthcare needs, we must assess the current nursing workforce. The Louisiana Center for Nursing regularly performs studies to ensure there is accurate data to use for planning.
